There are diverse and incredible kinds of beads and beaded artworks found throughout Africa and we at Beaded Safaris Collection strive to help our guests discover these historical hidden beads. Some of the oldest documented beads on record actually come from Ostrich Eggshell beads found in the Enkapune Ya Muto rock shelter in Kenya.

 

Our Natural History Beaded Safaris may follow the foot trails of the great explorers such as Hemingways, Livingstone, Joseph Thomson, Roosevelt, among others. Kenya is credited as the cradle of mankind, from where the earliest remains of human bones were discovered by Dr Richard Leakey. Evidence of the earliest, man were discovered at Koobi Fora on the shores of Lake Turkana, formerly Lake Rudolf.

Kenyan Archeological sites: Other Kenya historical tour and safari hotspot areas that remains and tools of the human ancestry have been found include Kariandusi and Ololgesailie, archaeological sites. All early ancestry artifacts are collected and displayed at National Museum at Nairobi. These archaeological sites are also developed into Kenya historical tour tourist attractions. They can be seen in local museums like the; Fort Jesus, Nairobi Museum, Kitale, Kisumu and among other Historical and archaeological sites.

Gede Ruins Monument is the remnants of a large Swahili town that was settled first in the 13th century and again in the 17th century. There are actually ruins of Swahili towns all along the Kenyan coast, but Gede is currently the largest known and certainly the most extensively excavated. It includes a huge central area of historical ruins, a tree platform with great views of the site, and a large network of nature trails that meander through the surrounding forest leading to many lesser ruins.

Rock Art in Caves: There are also caves believed to have been shelter of the early man across the country. Rock paintings are evident in such areas as the Mt Elgon Kitum and Makingeny Caves, Mfangano Island and in Malaba district.

Slave Trade Caves: Other caves at Shimoni have been used as stockade for slaves in transit to major markets in Zanzibar for onward transmission to South America and Europe. These are especially favoured by the itineraries of Kenyan historical tours and safaris.

Battlefield and Monuments: Visit the Taita Taveta region and engage in the World War 1 battlefield experience. Here you will see World War 1 (WW1) artifacts, snipers baobab tee, commonwealth war graves commission, WW1 encampments, mashoti fort and so much more. During the colonial war, evidence from bombings during the struggle for independence that created lakes can be seen at the Aberdares Forest and the Buffalo Springs Reserve with the Mau Mau freedom fighters.
