Historical Stone Town Tour – Half Day Tour

Stone town is one of the few intact historical Swahili coastal trading towns of East Africa. Its myriad of small shops, its mix of people, its bustling markets and eateries, mosques, churches and Hindu temples combine and homogenize disparate elements of different cultures. Stone Town was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2000.

During the Stone Town tour, you can discover interesting artefacts like the carved Arab doors with brass studs, carved balconies, the old post office or the kanga market. The tour includes the central market, the former slave market with the Anglican Cathedral, Tippu Tip House, the House of Wonders, the Old Fort, the Palace Museum, former residence of the Sultan and princess Salme.

Spice Tour

Spices from Zanzibar are famous around the world and a holiday to Zanzibar would be incomplete without a visit to the spice plantations. The sultan of Oman first introduced these kinds of plantations on the island in 1873. You will be overwhelmed by the abundance of botanical species growing in these gardens – exotic spices, fruits and vegetables. Many of the spices have medicinal properties and are still used by the local population to cure certain maladies. Savour different spices, cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, vanilla or black pepper. Taste a variety of fruits ranging from the rose apple to the guava. Some rare plants like henna, perfume tree and lipstick tree are used for their value in preparing cosmetics. Besides the visit to spice farm, the Kidichi Persian Baths, richly decorated with stuccowork, are also included in the trip.

Prison Island

A Local motor boat will bring you on a 20 minutes ride to Prison Island. The islet was formerly used as a private detention for disobedient slaves. Later a jail was constructed, but never actually used. Today the island is a small tourist resort, famous for its giant tortoises. Our tour guide will give you a short introduction to the islet’s interesting past and you can then spend some time sunbathing, swimming, snorkelling, or walking around to see tortoises and peacocks.

Quad Bike

The Quad bike tour is only a half day tour where the guests can drive their own quads bike and enjoy a rich off-road-itinerary into wild landscape through local farms, sugar cane plantation, quarries, spice trees and baobab.

Horse Riding

The horse riding is a half day tour where they the guest take a walk along the beach of North East Coast for one hours, then they will stop for a little break during which they will serve a buffet of fresh fruits and juices, cakes and biscuits. They will return back to the ranch passing through local villages.
